Terms of use
Nova is a chat assistant a business puts on its own website. It answers that website's visitors from the business's own pages, documents and product feed. Nova is operated by Nova AI (Pty) Ltd, a South African company. These terms are the agreement between Nova AI (Pty) Ltd and anybody who holds a Nova account or sets up a bot with it.
By creating an account, accepting an invitation or using a bot you set up with Nova, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use Nova.
Your account
Give us your real name and an email address you read, and keep them current: sign-in links, password resets and invitations are sent to that address. Keep your password and any two-factor sign-in to yourself, and sign out any session you do not recognise from your account settings. You are responsible for what is done through your account.
Your organisation and your team
Bots belong to an organisation, and the people you invite into it act on its behalf. The roles in an organisation decide who may read conversations, reply to visitors, change a bot or remove one. The organisation's owners are responsible for who they invite and which role each person has.
What you add to a bot
Your bot learns from the websites, documents, pasted text and product feeds you add to it. Only add content you are entitled to use, and keep it accurate: the bot answers from what you give it, so a wrong price or an out-of-date policy on your pages becomes a wrong answer. You keep every right you have in your content, and you allow us to store and process it for as long as it is needed to run your bot.
What your bot says
Nova writes each answer with an artificial intelligence model and checks every sentence against your own content before a visitor sees it, and withholds what it cannot match. No check of this kind is perfect, so treat the bot as a first answer rather than as advice, and do not use it where a wrong answer could cause harm. Conversations that need a person can be taken over by your team from the inbox.
Your visitors
When a visitor chats to your bot, your business is responsible for that conversation and Nova processes it on your behalf. Tell your visitors on your own site that the chat is an automated assistant and how you handle what they type. The privacy policy explains what Nova does with it.
Fair use
Do not use Nova to break the law, to mislead people, to collect information visitors would not expect you to collect, or to send anything unlawful or harmful. Do not try to reach another organisation's bots, conversations or content, test Nova's security without our written permission, or overload it. We may limit or suspend a bot or an account that does any of these things.
Our software
Nova, its software and its design belong to Nova AI (Pty) Ltd. Using Nova gives you the right to use it for your business while your account is open, and nothing more. You may not copy, resell or rebuild it, or use the Nova name or logo without our written consent.
Ending it
You can remove any source or bot yourself at any time, and the bot stops answering from it. You can ask us to close your account. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why where we can.
Our responsibility
We work to keep Nova available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be either. To the extent the law allows, Nova AI (Pty) Ltd is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of Nova or from an answer a bot gave. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or any other law that cannot be excluded.
Changes and the law that applies
We may change these terms as Nova changes, and we will tell account holders by email before a change that affects them takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of South Africa.
